Jess Szymanski is a Senior Advisor for Strategic and Crisis Communications at Clout Public Affairs, advising clients on the best solutions and tactics to strengthen their public perception and bolster their long-term communication strategies. Jess is an experienced, skilled communicator in energy and environmental policy, foreign policy, and political campaigns, successfully shaping messages and reporting to international, national, and regional media.
Most recently, Jess worked on Dave McCormick’s campaign for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania as Communications Director, overseeing and running all communications aspects of one of the most high-level Senate primaries in the country. Prior to joining the campaign, she was a national media relations spokesperson for the American Petroleum Institute, representing America’s natural gas and oil industry. From 2017 to 2021, Jess served at the U.S. Department of Energy for Secretaries Rick Perry and Dan Brouillette. She was Press Secretary for the agency, serving as the chief spokesperson for the Department and the Secretary as well as managing media engagements and public messaging for all segments of the Department throughout the country.
Jess also did advocacy work during the 2016 election cycle for the Secure Energy for America Association, a Pittsburgh-based regional energy trade association. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Jess is a lifelong Steelers and Penguins fan. She attended Ohio University and graduated with dual degrees in Political Science and Communications.
